Privacy policy

In short: coBudget does not collect any information about you. The app has no account, no server, no ads and no tracking. Everything you enter is stored on your own iPhone or iPad.

Who we are

coBudget is developed by xilox (Brian Jorgensen), Denmark. If you have questions about privacy, write to admin@cobudget.xilox.dk.

What data the app stores

The app stores the items and settings you enter yourself: names of income and expenses, amounts, dates, types, payment methods, accounts and transfers. The data is kept in the app's local storage on the device and does not leave the device unless you choose so in one of the ways below.

The app does not ask for your name, email, phone number, bank details or location, and it does not read your bank accounts.

Backup files

When you tap Save backup, the app creates a .cobudget file and opens the iOS share sheet. You decide where the file is saved – for example in Files or iCloud Drive – or who it is sent to. The backup file is not encrypted; treat it like a private document.

iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud sync, a copy of your data is stored in one file in the app's folder in your own iCloud Drive. The file is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud.

The contents of the file are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the password you choose (PBKDF2-SHA256). The password and key are stored only in the keychain on your devices and are never sent anywhere. Without the password the file cannot be read – not by Apple, not by us. In addition, the file contains, unencrypted, the time of the last change and the name of the device that saved it, so the app can tell whether there is newer data.

Notifications

If you turn on the monthly backup reminder, a local notification is scheduled on the device. It is not sent through a server.

Analytics, ads and third parties

coBudget contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and shares no data with third parties. The app does not use cookies.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or store information about you, we have no data to hand over, correct or delete. You are in full control: you can delete all data in the app under Settings → Delete all data, delete the sync file in Files → iCloud Drive → coBudget, and delete the app from the device.

Children

coBudget is not directed at children and collects no information about any users.

This website

cobudget.xilox.dk uses no cookies or tracking. The Figtree font is loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads.

If the policy changes, we update it here along with the date below.
